OVERVIEW Mage Knight Apocalypse is an action role-playing game based on the popular miniatures collectibles game from Wizkids. It is a rough clone of games such as Diablo, Dungeon Siege and Titan Quest. If you have experience with those games, you’ll be able to dive right into MKA with no problems. The biggest annoyance may be the lack of screen-edge scrolling. In typical third-person perspective games, moving your mouse to the edge of the screen moves or rotates the camera. Not so in MKA. The only way to rotate the camera is to hold the mouse wheel button down and move the mouse left and right. Once you get used to it, you’ll find it easy and intuitive; however, it will take a while to get it right if you’ve played a lot of other action RPGs. MKA’s gameplay is pretty easy to learn. Regardless of your experience with other games in the genre, you should play through the Tutorial mission with each of the five playable characters. Console Based Cheat Codes

Glitches

Bonus 20 XP for Gangrel and Nosferatu

The History “Boogeyman” reduces Potence to 0. When you start playing, you can click the word Potence, and you will receive 10 XP. Move your cursor over Animalism and go back to Potence. Clicking it again will give you another 10 XP. If you click accept after your potence discipline is reduced to less than 0 (either -1 or -2) the discipline will vanish from your inventory forever.

The other clan that has this option is Gangrel.

Infinite XP points

When you start a new game go straight to the character creation screen and select your clan. Go to the character sheet then put your points where you want to put them. Go back to the clan selection screen and select THE SAME CLAN (selecting another will reset the points). You will now have the character points again besides the ones you allready have placed. Be careful not to fill your points up in one go because if you have remaining points, you cannot proceed with the game. Please note that this glitch was fixed in a recent patch.

Tutorial Ammo Secret

In the Tutorial when Jack gives you the thirty-eight revolver you can gain max ammunition for it by simply talking to him over and over. Once should give you the weapon, with some ammo. The next time should unequip it, but you are still getting ammo for it. Do it again and you will re-equip it, you can repeat this as much as you want until you have max ammo for the weapon. This is especially useful if you happen to use up all your ammo shooting at the bottles at the end of the hall.

News Anchor Room and Money Clip secret

At any haven you have, or can own, the man upon the TV who reads off the headlines is actually located in a room off from the main area. By enabling NoClip in the console you can ‘fly’ to this room and find him. The room is usually above the top floor and out to the side, you should be able to spot it once you clip through the outside of the area.

In each of these rooms there will be a money clip of $150, good if you need cash. Also you can look behind the desk to notice the anchor isn’t actually fully modeled behind the desk.

Hint: Beat Calo Nord #2 Easily

While on Tatooine, you will go into the cave of the krayt dragon after it is dead to retreive the star map. When you come out you will fight Calo Nord and a band of mercinary scum. You should do the Krayt Dragon mission first as later on in the game Calo is extremely tough to beat if you don’t beat him during this mission.

Hint: Double The Pearls

You can easily gain two Krayt Dragon Pearls simply by following the Dark Side. After killing the Krayt Dragon on Tatooine, demand more money for the task (from the Twi’lek who conceived the mission). When he refuses to give in, kill him and loot his body for a pearl. A second pearl should be in the Krayt Dragon. Both should upgrade your lightsaber considerably.

Hint: Unlimited Money (Dark Side)

When your character gets to Korriban, head to the Sith academy, outside the tombs (where the archeologists are) and be sure to take Juhani with you. There is a character off to the left in the Valley of the Dark Lords named Dak Vesser.

Ask him who he is and Juhani will recognize him as a lost Jedi lover. Dak is bitter and will leave and be in the cantina. Go there and talk with him WITHOUT Juhani. You will be able to tell him that you are going to kill him and you will fight. After you kill him, collect his remains, including 150 credits and a lightsaber crystal.

Now go out of the cantina and take a left to the valley where the entrance to the Sith Academy is, and turn right back around and go into the cantina again. Dak should be alive (as long as Juhani is not with you), so you can talk to him and kill him over and over again! The lightsaber crystals you get from Dak are worth nearly 2000 credits each on Yavin 4. You also receive a lot of Dark Side points if you opt to do this.

Easy Level Up / Maximize XP Glitch

On Korriban your player will go into solo mode to enter a tomb that contain a number of challenges, includining a confrontation with some character from your past.

Search the entire tomb until a find a room containing a Jedi corspe. When you search the corpse, a Hsiss Dragon will spawn (and is easily defeated). However, when you search the corspe repeatedly, several Hsiss Dragons will spawn until the room is full of them.

This is an excellent way to maximise your XP and continue to level up until you reach level 50.

Please note that if you are playing as a Light Side character, you will not be able to regenerate Force points in this location and therefore will have to fight off the Hsiss Dragons with LightSabers and other weapons rather than Force Powers.

The story line to the game is based on the movie starship troopers. I like the concept of the game, running around killing thousands of bugs. Having NPC troopers that fight with you is cool. The game also supports multiplayer game play, or though you can’t play the story line in this mode. If you play this game be prepared to be overwhelmed by the number of monsters attacking you. I like this aspect of the game.

I really like the first two levels, but after that the big bugs are a pain. They take way to long to kill, which can really slow the charge momentum. If you don’t have a rocket launcher be prepared to take some time to kill the bug. There are also a few time limit mission objectives that are a pain. You are up to your eyeballs in bugs, having a great time and than you need to cut it short and run some where.

Some of the underground complex maps can be difficult to navigate. All in all I like the game in small doses and Josh and I rate it 5/10.

Start the game with the -devuser command line parameter. eg c\games\starShipT\STGame.exe –devuser.  Then press ~ during game play to display the console window. Type help as a console command to display all the cheat codes:

godmode – God mode

ineedammo – Add ammo

setshake – Turn off camera shaking

evileye – Kill bugs by looking at them

Unlock weapons and tech soldiers

Make a backup copy of the file. Use a text editor to edit the “interface.txt” file in the “mission” folder. Locate the “Excluded” heading in the file and remove all the lines in that area 

Extra storage depot ammunition

Make a backup copy of the file. Usea text editor to edit the “st_db_attr” file in the “stta\units” folder. Change the “10000″ in position 6 of line 29 to “100000″.

This involves editing text files. Backup your copies of the “st_db_attr” file in the “unit’s” folder and the “interface.txt” file of each mission you which to mod.

Extra gear

Use notepad and edit the “interface.txt” of the particular mission you want to edit. Change the value from 3 to anything you wish. 

Extra Ammo in the Depot

Use notepad and edit the “st_db_attr” file in the “unit’s” folder. Change value 10000 on line 29 to anything you wish.

Unlock Special Weapons and Tech Units

Use notepad and edit the “interface.txt” of the particular mission you want to edit. Remove tech’s in the excluded section to the tech section.
